Consultation-
Our first meeting is complimentary and you are under no obligation. This is a time to get to know each other and see if we are a good fit. Don't hesitate to say if you don't think we will work well together. If I am not the right doula for you, that's ok. I will try and help you find someone who is!
Once you decide to hire me as your doula, a contract is signed. This can be done at the consultation, first prenatal visit or signed and sent to me by mail. By signing a contract this reserves your spot on my calander.
I usually see my clients for 1-2 prenatal visits, this is your choice. Be aware that doing one prenatal visit will take approxamently 2 1/2-3 1/2 hours. If you choose 1 prenatal, you will still receive all the information I would give to you in 2 sessions.
These visits will include:(but not limited to)
~Filling out and discussing client history form
~ Signing contract, if you choose to do so
~What type of birth are you wanting to achieve(natural, low-no intervention, epidural)
~If you were to choose pain relief, what would you choose
~What helps you relax
~Do you have any fears
~How comfortable is your partner with the labor/birth process
~Do you want to labor at home
~Go over different positions to help ease pain and help baby decend
~When will you want me to join you
~How do you feel I can best assist you
~Talk about any questions and concerns
~Helping you create a birth plan
~Do you want me to take pictures during labor/birth
Post Partum Visit:
~ This visit we will go over your labor/birth process. This is your time to "tell your birth story." If you chose to breastfeed, we will discuss how it is going for you. If you are having any trouble we will address the issue. If I can not help you, I will be able to refer you to someone who can. At this visit I will also teach you infant massage if you chose to do it at your post partum visit.
~ Once a contract is signed, I am available to you by phone or e-mail 24 hours a day for any questions or concerns you may have.
~ I go "on call" for you 2 weeks prior to your due date.
~ I am available to you after you return home for any questions/concerns that may arise.
